I have questions. Lots of questions.

FAQs

Welcome to the Double Dog Photography FAQ page! Here are some answers to the most common questions we get. If you still can’t find the answer to your question on this page or you’re ready to book a session, or even if you just want to talk about dogs, feel free to reach out  via our contact page by clicking here

  • A: Our sessions typically last up to two hours. This allows us to capture a variety of shots and gives your dog time to relax and get comfortable.

  • A: We want to have the best natural light available to photograph your pup. That typically means shooting later in the day when the sun is lower in the sky. This allows for warm golden light to compliment the professional lighting equipment we use for our photo sessions.

  • A: The location might be the most important part of the session. Next to your furry friend(s), of course! Depending on the aesthetic you’re looking for we will plan for somewhere like a beach, forest, park, or possibly a gritty urban spot. Backyards are a no-go for us unless your backyard happens to be the ocean or a mountain range. Then we can talk. ;-)

  • When planning a date for your photo session we can also come up with a couple of backup dates. If it looks like rain on your scheduled session day, no worries! We can reschedule to one of your backup dates and your retainer can be transferred to the new date.

  • A: We sure do! We are based in downtown Chicago, Illinois but we are available for sessions anywhere in the world. Contact us for more information about travel and destination sessions.

  • A: We recommend bringing your dog's favorite treats and toys, as well as any special accessories you want included in the photos. We also suggest bringing a friend who your dog is comfortable with to help during the session.

  • A: Sure! We want to give you all the looks you want in the photos. Feel free to bring your dog’s best fashion accessories and we use them for some photos and take some in their birthday suit to give you the most variety in your gallery.

  • Double Dog photo sessions allow for up to three (3) dogs. But that doesn’t mean we can’t include more! Contact us to learn more about including more pups in your session.

  • A: We recommend bringing as few people as possible to your session. Typically, just you and possibly one other person to assist you. The more people there are, the more stimuli and distractions there are for the dog. We want them to be focused on us as much as possible so we can capture their very best expressions in the photographs!

  • A: We specialize in photographing dogs in a natural environment to bring out their unique personality and expressions. This means there won’t be any people in the photographs. We don’t recommend bringing family members with you to the photo session to minimize distractions for your pup.

  • A: Unfortunately, no. We understand your dog probably loves your kid(s) most of all but we cannot accommodate children at our photo sessions. This is to ensure a calm environment for your dog and minimize distractions.

  • A: We understand that dogs can sometimes be unpredictable! If your dog is uncooperative, we will work with you to find a solution that works best for your pet. Our goal is to create a stress-free environment for your dog and provide you with beautiful images.

  • A: Of course! Your dog’s safety is our numero uno priority. If your dog can’t be off-leash we recommend bringing an extra-long leash to the session. We can Photoshop it out during the digital editing part of post-production.

  • A: That’s OK! We are dog lovers and we understand sometimes new things are scary for some dogs. We will spend the first part of the session getting your dog used to us, our gear, and this strange situation they are in. We love photographing pups up close and personal, but if they are just too nervous for that, don’t worry! We can bust out our telephoto lens as a very last resort that will allow us to capture amazing photos of your furry friend from a distance they are comfortable with.

  • A: Final images take 3-4 weeks to be processed and edited. We will notify you when your images are ready and provide access to a secure online gallery for viewing and choosing print products.

  • A: Yes, we offer a variety of printing options including wall art; canvas prints, metallic and acrylic prints, as well as traditional framed fine art prints. Your package will include certain wall art pieces but if you decide you want additional prints or art pieces, you can order those directly from your online gallery.

  • A: Yes, we encourage you to share your images on social media! We only ask that you credit Double Dog Photography when posting online.
